When I was living in the sticks along the Delaware during the pandemic, I had this weird sort of mystical thing going on inside my head that was trying connect dots in my life and turn meaningless nothing things into signs that I would die. Thus we have the role of the "content creator." And I'm not one of those. And if we, people whose talent and public value tends to (as science suggests) come from the same place as our flaws and instabilities fail to meet the standards of a media-purity collective critical eye that cannot see any further than the surface of algorithm-boosted celebrity gossip, we must be dealt with with great prejudice and no mercy, lest we allow the world to wallow in its current privilege structures. Who are inherently loaded with privilege and power that must be carefully watched. This paints artists in this light that has us as weakling ubermensch who must be controlled by all costs. As a terrible career choice that isn't worth anything inherently and therefore should be considered worthless outside of a crowdfunding situation wherein you have to constantly beg for love and support. As nothing more than capital that you need to beg to find value in. It comes down to how our culture currently views art - as this tool wielded by the powerful to accrue or exercise that power that must be used with great caution or the whole world will werewolf into bigots and murderers because you were too humanizing with your villain or your subtext was construed subjectively in a way that the individual construing it took as validation and encouragement for something horrible within them. I'm looking for a deeper connection with the world at large, so that requires me to say things that people with whom I only have surface level or clean and cute commonalities with might not love. If you're not loved for or at least despite your ugly parts, then the connection can't deepen. For those of us who are similar deep down, especially in the ugly parts. Art is about connecting with those of us who feel one another deeply. If people are turned off by something I say or do publicly enough to throw a tantrum, get mad at me, or try to drag me in some way, then they weren't my target audience or the people my "message" or whatever was intended for. It's also just a matter of reaching my audience and my people. I'm just saying I try my best to be as honest as I can with my work, damn as many of the torpedoes as I think I can dodge or survive taking, and that censorship (whether censored by onesself, public opinion, or government) for any reason is something we should avoid unless absolutely necessary. This isn't me saying it's some grand responsibility I try to fulfill and if I don't I think society will collapse or something. Because ultimately if we don't express ourselves honestly when we create culture, we cannot live in an honest culture. And that includes the things people might not agree with or like, or be unsettled or offended by. The whole point of art, if you ask me, is to speak one's mind regardless of what social norms tell you to do. I will now be deleting this profile, because of course I would. Thanks for everything, I love most of you a decent amount. (As always, I must mention that none of my work or performances are intended for children, and must give my standard "General Content Warning." Which basically means that if you find yourself in an emotional state where you need content warnings to feel comfortable consuming any given piece of media, the work I do or get involved in may not be a good idea for you. I'll be playing songs off the upcoming record and doing Q&A's answering superchat donors and members of my Patreon via the WW Patreon Discord Server. The stream will feature performances by Jhariah and Machinery of the Human Heart, and Chris Dunne and I will do a special live video episode of our podcast, Life in the World to Come, where we answer audience questions about how to survive after the apocalypse. I'll be going live the night before (9/26 6pm EST) and doing a special long-form livestream via my youtube channel (link here: ) To hype up and count down to the launch of this annoyingly ambitious Indiegogo Campaign (which you can learn more about here: ). The album will be called "In Case I Make It." I think, anyway. I'm going to be crowdfunding a new album starting 9/27 12am EST. The AMA is now closed, thanks for participating and for giving me all the delightful opportunities to vent, rant, and say things I rarely have the chance to say or presence of mind to figure out how to say when speaking aloud.
